Poetry: Dancing with the Storm

Multiple lightning bolts striking a forested mountain overlooking a distant coastal city and ocean.

Today’s poem is inspired by the storm that’s happening right now here in Honolulu, with all the rain and strong winds that make for a gloomy day. As the storm sets in, the atmosphere feels heavy and thoughtful. This poem captures that stormy vibe, so you can really feel the intensity of the downpour and hear the winds. Let’s jump into this dark but unforgettable experience together.

Dancing with the Storm

In deep shadows, the storm kicks in,
Thunder rumbles across the land,
The air feels heavy and cold,
While dark clouds wrap around like a blanket.

Bright flashes of lightning light up the sky,
Showing the hidden shadows below,
Lightning jumps around, wild and free,
A wild show from nature that’s hard to ignore.

Rain pours down in sheets that never end,
Creating a mix of sadness that won’t go away,
Each drop talks of joy that’s gone,
In a world that feels so dark and heavy.

Strong winds whip through the trees,
Howling loudly, carrying a sad song,
No sun to break through this gray haze,
Just the sound of nature’s mournful cry.

But even in all this chaos, there’s a weird kind of peace,
New wonders emerge as the sadness fades,
Storms may rage and skies may cry,
But in all that fury, the heart learns to hold on.
