Oh boy, here we are again with another chapter in the saga of a failed artwork. It’s become a bit of a reality for me—sometimes things just don’t go as planned in the creative process. Instead of getting too caught up in disappointment, I’ve learned to pivot and figure out my next steps. It often comes down to brainstorming a solution or, if things go south, tearing it down and starting fresh. You know how it is—out of ten pieces I create, there’s usually only one that I absolutely fall in love with.

This latest piece had me feeling really optimistic. I was excited about the direction it was taking! I had this cool idea of mixing baking soda and vinegar to create fun texture bubbles, and I couldn’t wait to show it off. It felt like I was onto something special.
But then, as I was waiting for the plaster to dry, disaster struck. Cracks started appearing—not the kind that add character, but those ugly, stressed-out cracks that made my heart sink. It was like watching a carefully built sandcastle get washed away by the tide. Talk about a bummer!
I tried to convince myself that maybe this piece could still be salvaged, but deep down, I knew it was likely a lost cause. It was tough because I had poured so much effort and enthusiasm into it.
But hey, this is just how the creative journey goes, right? Not everything we invest our time and energy in is going to turn out amazing, and that’s a hard truth to accept. Still, it’s all part of the ride. I’m picking myself up and getting back to the drawing board, ready to learn from this hiccup in my artistic adventure.
If anyone out there in the art world has some bright ideas on how I might revive this piece, I’m all ears! But for now, I’m reminded that each stumble is just another step toward my next great creation, and that’s what keeps me motivated. After all, it’s not only about the final product—it’s about the journey, the growth, and the stories we gather along the way.
