Deep in a lively Big Island rainforest, there’s this special grove that’s just bursting with life. One night, as the stars twinkle above, the sky starts rumbling with clouds, and suddenly—boom! The rain starts to pour, and it’s no ordinary rain; it’s like a musical masterpiece!
Every droplet hits the leaves with a playful pitter-patter, creating a totally upbeat soundtrack for the forest. The Coqui frogs begin their cheerful calls, blending with the buzzing insects and the songs of the birds. It all turns the whole place into one big jam session.
As the rain picks up, the forest becomes alive with energy, illuminated by flashes of lightning that add to the drama. The colors pop, and everything feels electric. This “harmonic downpour” is more than just a rain shower; it’s nature’s way of celebrating life and the connections we all share.

In 2025, I took a swing at capturing this magical moment in my latest painting. It’s on a 16 x 20 canvas, and I used a textured mix of acrylic and plaster to bring it all to life. Every brushstroke reflects that symphony of the rainforest, inviting everyone to experience the rhythm and joy of nature’s celebration. This piece is a tribute to the vibrant music that flows through everything in the Big Island rainforest, where the Coqui frogs play their part in the delightful symphony!
