Not Your Typical Day Off: A Tsunami Warning

1–2 minutes

So, this morning started off like any other day off—coffee brewing, news playing, and the sun shining through the curtains. I was all set to kick back and enjoy some much-needed relaxation. But, spoiler alert: things took a wild turn!

Out of nowhere, we got hit with a tsunami warning. Yep, you read that right. Suddenly, my chill day turned into a scramble to gather essentials and evacuate to higher ground. Talk about a reality check!

We rushed to safety, joining neighbors and friends who were also feeling the panic. There’s something unsettling about sharing a space filled with uncertainty and worry. We all couldn’t help but wonder: How bad is this going to be? Are our homes going to be okay?

Now, here we are, a couple of hours away from any potential waves crashing down, just sitting around and waiting. It feels surreal—like the world outside is still going about its business while we’re stuck in this bubble of anxiety. The sun is shining, birds are chirping, but our minds are racing with all the what-ifs.

We’re trying to keep our spirits up, chatting with each other and sharing stories to distract ourselves. But man, it’s hard not to think about what’s coming.

I can’t help but reflect on how quickly everything can change. What was supposed to be a day of relaxation is now a reminder of how unpredictable life can be. I’m grateful to be safe for now, but the worry for what’s next is hard to shake.

As we wait for updates, I can’t help but wonder how this day will end. Will we get to go home, or will we have to deal with the fallout of nature’s fury? Whatever happens, I know this day will stick with me—not as a typical day off, but as a day that brought us together in the face of uncertainty.

For now, we just hang tight and hope for the best. Stay safe out there, everyone! 🌊💙

I have been thinking about the implications of a Tsunami. Is there chaos around you?

No, everyone’s pretty calm. There are still some knuckleheads on the water though.

The wave is late according to their prediction. They said 7:10, but it seems like it’s taking its time and will arrive around 7:36.

Of course! Thanks a bunch for checking in. Everyone is fine here. Personally, I believe it might be a good idea to lower the alert level, but it seems like they want to hold off on that for a little while longer.

Everything’s great, we’re all good. We just received a downgrade to an advisory, so we can head home.
