Why I’m Team Dog – A Little Love Story

Alright, let’s get straight to it: I’m all about dogs. When people start debating dogs versus cats, I’m firmly in the dog camp—no question about it!

First off, dogs are the best when it comes to love. You know that feeling when you walk in the door and there’s a pup waiting for you, tail wagging like it’s going to take off? In that moment, it’s as if you’re their whole world! Dogs have this incredible energy that makes you smile, turning your worst day around with a single wag.

Sure, they can be a bit needy. They crave your attention, want to play, and, of course, need those walks. But honestly, that neediness is what makes their love feel so genuine. When a dog is excited to see you, it’s like receiving the most heartwarming welcome every time. And who wouldn’t want that kind of love?

Growing up, we had a big dog named Sleepy—a mix of German Shepherd and pointer. Let me tell you, she was the laziest dog I ever knew! She would just plop down and snooze, looking like she was in a permanent nap mode. Don’t get me wrong; she had her hyper moments when she would zoom around the yard like a maniac, but most of the time, she was just chilling.

One memorable occasion was when Sleepy went missing for a while. We thought maybe she had wandered off or, worse, that someone had picked her up. But then, out of nowhere, there she was, just lounging at our front door when we got home! It was the biggest surprise ever, and we were overjoyed! She stayed with us for the rest of her days, and those moments mean the world to me.

Now, here’s my little struggle: I live in a small apartment that doesn’t allow pets, which really stinks! I constantly dream about having a small dog curled up next to me—any breed would do! Just imagining coming home to a happy little buddy, excited to see me, brings a smile to my face.

Of course, dog ownership has its ups and downs, but I truly believe the joy they bring is worth it. In this hectic world, having a loyal furry companion would make everything feel a little brighter.

So, while cats have their appeal, I’ll forever be a dog person at heart. To me, they’re not just pets; they’re family. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll figure out how to have my own furry friend again. Until then, I’ll be cheering for all the amazing dogs out there!
