How do you waste the most time every day?
Inspired by the daily writing prompt.
Every day, I find myself wasting time in a way that leaves me feeling stuck and unproductive. It usually starts when I sit and think. Self-doubt creeps in and makes me feel like I’m not good enough. This inner critic takes over my thoughts, especially when it comes to my work. Whether I’m painting or handling everyday tasks, I often feel like my efforts just don’t meet some unrealistic standard.
When I’m working on something creative, like picking colors for my latest art piece, this self-doubt can be especially frustrating. Instead of trying out different colors and combinations, I end up overwhelmed and questioning my ability to make good choices. This spiral of doubt leads to indecision and, eventually, nothing getting done.
During these challenging moments, I often feel paralyzed, incapable of making any progress. It’s like all my creative energy has vanished, and I just can’t seem to move forward. I know I need to recognize this pattern, but getting back on track isn’t always easy.
Sometimes, it takes me a while to shake off that frustration. I try different strategies to help me regroup. These include taking a short break. I also look for inspiration from other artists. I remind myself that it’s perfectly okay to make mistakes. I realize that creativity is a journey with ups and downs. This understanding helps me push past those moments of self-doubt. It encourages me to dive back into my work.
In the end, I’ve learned that wasting time on negative self-talk slows me down. It also stifles my creativity. By becoming aware of this tendency, I’m working on embracing my imperfections and fostering a more positive mindset. I’m committed to making the most of my time each day. I strive to create art that truly reflects who I am and what I love.
